DeafBlind Voyage & Touch Adventures

DBVTA TIMELINE

DeafBlind travel experiences, stories, lessons, and successes.

Every journey tells a story.

The DBVTA Timeline is being created as a place where DeafBlind travelers can share real experiences from their journeys— the successes, challenges, discoveries, accessibility barriers, and unforgettable moments that happen along the way.

WHY THESE STORIES MATTER

Travel accessibility is best understood through lived experience. Every DeafBlind traveler navigates the world differently, and each journey can reveal both barriers and possibilities that may not be obvious to others.

By sharing these experiences, DBVTA hopes to help travelers, businesses, travel providers, policymakers, and the public better understand what meaningful accessibility looks like in the real world.

WHAT YOU MAY FIND HERE

Future Timeline stories may include experiences involving:

  • Cruises and other travel adventures
  • Airports, train stations, public transportation, and navigation
  • Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and attractions
  • CoNavigator accommodations and situational awareness
  • Accessibility successes and barriers
  • Interactions with travel staff and service providers
  • Independent travel and decision-making
  • Lessons that may help improve future travel experiences
  • Memorable moments worth sharing

REAL EXPERIENCES. REAL VOICES.

The Timeline is not intended to present one single DeafBlind travel experience as representative of everyone. Instead, it will highlight different perspectives and experiences from DeafBlind travelers.

Some journeys may demonstrate exceptional accessibility. Others may identify barriers that still need to be addressed. Both are important because meaningful change begins with understanding what actually happens during travel.

STORIES ARE FORTHCOMING

The DBVTA Timeline is currently a work in progress.

Travel stories and experiences will be added as they become available.
